2.4.2 Draw the information flow

Identify the main information systems each process step in the value stream uses to store and transmit data. Understanding the flow of information in the process is important to discover some kinds of waste in the production process, but I discuss this more in a later section. Use information flow arrows to connect the process blocks with the information systems. An arrow pointing to an information system means that data is entered into the system, and an arrow pointing away from the system means that data is retrieved from the system.
